February 3, 2016I BELIEVE IN ME
Does it really matter that you believe in me or I believe in you? Who thinks so? Why does it matter? Does it really make a difference?
Say it with me. Now let’s all say it with conviction and meaning! What does it mean? How does it affect you?
Simply put you need to believe in you in yourself with confidence and conviction for others to believe in you.
Think of life as the constant interview. We are all working through life for others to accept us, our ideas, beliefs, and suggestions, right?
Have you ever met people who do not look you in the eye, stay alone and apart? When these people ask you something do you feel confident in their idea Most likely not. They could be shy and very unassuming. They could have a really great idea, BUT without the confidence or belief in that idea whatever it is, chances are it will fall flat. Why? The person making the suggestion does not believe in them self that it is a good idea, for whatever their reason, and again… it could be a great idea.
Believe in yourself. Be confident, have courage and find your voice. Your voice may be a little one or it might be a strong one, but whatever it is believe first that you believe you can do it, believe in yourself?
Have you ever thought … Who is going to believe me? Who wants to hire me? Who wants to select me for their team? Who is going to call on me?
Believing in oneself is working to develop confidence!
If you’re selling Girl Scout cookies – has anyone had to do that? Sometimes there are quotas or prizes for certain levels. They may be out there to incentivize you, but have you ever been slightly daunted by the task of where to begin? Sometimes it helps to break things down. Say for instance your leader says each person goal is to sell 50 boxes of cookies. That may sound like a lot to begin with, but work to break it down.
Try to take things in steps, baby steps if you will. You do not to leap through life and frankly you could look a bit silly. Try working with the word HOW. Let’s say it together HOW. Our operative word in this instance or in life is HOW do we go about approaching our goal towards success.
First what do you have to think…
(Let’s hear it) – I believe in me. I know I can do this. It may be hard, but I will work my way through to success.
Think it through how can you sell the cookies, who can you sell the cookies to (not just your parents) How does this help my troop? Who else will buy my cookies? Who likes Girl Scout cookies (everyone)! Where can I go to reach those people?
When you have a plan in place your confidence will grow and so will your cookie sales. Imagine how great you feel when the cookies are sold and you and your troop are rewarded. It feels pretty darn good doesn’t it?
Think about athletes. The really top ones in the pros or Olympics, do you think they just get there? They may have been born with some natural talent, but they have trained physically, emotionally and mentally and what is the key message each one is saying to themselves?
I believe in me!!
If you think of yourself as a screw up or a failure you can easily turn that into a self-fulfilling prophecy.
Wear your mistakes and hiccups in life like badges of honor. Learn from them. You are human, lean and grow from mistakes and receive them as positive challenges to grow personally and professionally.
