David is a writer, professional stuntman, and producer of film and television. . He wrote and produced the Disney hit, THE BRIDGE TO TERABITHIA. His latest film, 2016’s THE GREAT GILLY HOPKINS, starring Glenn Close, Octavia Spencer, Kathy Bates and Julia Stiles, after it’s theatrical release is now screening on Netflix, Amazon and Itunes. He serves on the Film Advisory Board for the Savannah, Gold Coast and Big Apple Film Festivals. His first film, LOVE LUDLOW, premiered at the 2005 Sundance Film Festival, where David became the first independent filmmaker there to use corporate sponsorship to finance and promote his film. Famed film critic Roger Ebert declared LOVE LUDLOW “Another Sundance Treasure.” It was successfully distributed through STARZ and Warner Home Video.
Prior to filmmaking, David focused on playwriting, and has over a dozen plays published thru Samuel French Inc. David is the only playwright in the history of American Theater to premiere three plays on New York stages in one month. David has served as a panelist for numerous film festivals and regularly lectures at universities and writer symposiums. His films have premiered at over a 100 – festivals worldwide.
David is also a fireman; his memories as a 9/11 rescue worker were published in the novel 911-Book of Help, with his royalties going to scholarships for children who lost parents in the tragedy. More about David can be found on IMDB or at www.arcadybayent.com
